Fitzroy Island is a tropical island located 45 minutes by boat from Cairns. The island offers crystal clear waters, a reef system just off the beach and gorgeous rainforest. There is so much to do and see on Fitzroy Island.

Fitzroy Island is a great place for those who like activities in the water such as snorkelling tours, glass bottom boat tours, scuba diving, paddle skis and paddle boards to hire. You can definitely spend all day in the water, and the hot tropical weather really helps with that.

Fitzroy Island is a great place for those who like hiking, with several hiking tracks available around the island. The popular one is the hike to the summit where you get a fantastic look out view of the island. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the top and it is considered easy to moderate hike level. Other popular hiking tracks are to the lighthouse and to Nudey Beach.

Nudey Beach is a gorgeous beach located on the other side of the island. It takes about 20 minutes to get there and it is the favourite beach on the island amongst locals and tourists. The water is crystal clear and the reef around is quite colourful and full of marine life.

If someone is looking for a place just to relax without getting busy with activities, Fitzroy Island is also great for that. There is a beachfront bar and restaurant which is just the perfect place to relax, spend the day and enjoy the gorgeous view of the beach and ocean.

The ferry to Fitzroy Island departs twice a day from Cairns so travellers can choose from having a half day or a full day experience.
