Passions of Paradise is a fast 25 metre air-conditioned catamaran, locally owned and operated with more than 25 years experience in running personalised tours to the Great Barrier Reef. Their commitment to research, education and conservation of the World Heritage area has earned them many environmental awards.
The reef adventure begins with a Marine Naturalist providing visitors with extensive information about the Great Barrier Reef. The day continues with visitors getting into the water and exploring the two pristine locations chosen daily by Passions of Paradise. They keep the numbers of passengers to 80 people, this way avoiding the crowds and making it more comfortable for guests to snorkel or dive.
Their first destination, Michaelmas Cay, is the largest uninhabited coral cay in the Cairns region. The cay has a permanent low grassy area (size of 2 football fields) and is home to up to 35 different species of sea birds.
Michaelmas Cay is one of the best destinations to try snorkelling because the large cay protects the waters around it and the sloping beach provides visitors with an easy and gentle entry into the calm water. Ideal for kids or first time snorkellers.
In the afternoon Passions of Paradise goes on a short cruise and takes passengers to Paradise Reef which is located on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef.
The day includes snorkelling equipment, a hot and cold buffet lunch freshly prepared by the onboard chef, guided snorkelling tour by a friendly trained staff and Marine Biologist presentation.
