Fitzroy Island is a continental island 29 km south-east of Cairns. Fitzroy is a tropical island covered in tropical rainforest surrounded by a reef system that forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The island has a total area of 339 hectares and the highest point of the island is 375 metres above sea level.
Fitzroy Island has so much to do and explore. Visitors can walk through the rainforest, swim in the calm waters of Welcome Bay, see the fish swarm underneath the jetty or build sandcastles at Nudey Beach. Also it is a great place for hiking with four walking tracks established on the island.

Snorkelling around Fitzroy is a pleasant experience and perfect for kids or those ones who are learning how to snorkel. The reef is located just off the beach so the access to the snorkelling locations are easy and close to shore making it comfortable to snorkel.
At check ins at the Cairns Reef Fleet terminal Raging Thunder staff will provide clients with a map of the island showing the best snorkelling locations and walking tracks. The island will also not disappoint with the wide variety of corals and fish species.
This is a great opportunity to see one of the most beautiful islands in the Far North Queensland.

Beaches: The beaches on Fitzroy Island are not patrolled by surf life savers. Marine stingers are present in tropical waters from November – May and clients will be provided with a stinger suit for use while snorkelling during this period.

The Sea Kayaking tour is quite special because it combines kayaking around beautiful tropical islands and snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. Also, visitors have free time in the afternoon to explore Fitzroy Island or do extra activities. This is a day full of great adventure activities.
Booking fees: Tourism Cairns do not charge any booking fees.
Deposit and final payment: At Tourism Cairns clients are required to pay a deposit only at the time of booking. Final payment is to be completed 48 hours prior to departure or on the day of travel, depending on each tour operator's policy.
Cancellation by the traveller: If the tour is cancelled by the client up to 7 days prior to departure, a full refund is applicable. If the tour is cancelled by the client 7 days prior to departure, the deposit amount might be retained. If the tour is cancelled by the client 48 hours prior to departure, 100% cancellation fee may apply.
Booking amendments: If the date of a tour needs to be changed, Tourism Cairns must be notified in writing by the client up to 48 hours prior to the tour date.
